Stunning lakes, snow capped mountains, Austrian sweets and Italian cuisine; South Tirol has it all. The winter skiing is plentiful but don’t discount this area for the spring and summer months when the deer are frolicking and the wild flowers are abundant, this area is a well kept secret in Italy.
The community is quiet but the love of their traditional mountain music and dancing is effervescent. There are many walking trails and horse trails to take from one village to another and also to the lakes and mountains.
It can be difficult to find accommodation during the summer months as most places are closed to ready themselves for the fully occupied winter season. If you do decide to visit for a weekend or drive through do stop into one of the cafes and sample a tirol apple strudel, they are worth the trip alone.
